Question by AurokeInu: Tips on orchestral excerpts?
I have my audition date for UNCSA, which is very exciting, and I have chosen to do for the orchestral exerpts:
L’apres midi d’un faune-debussy
Capriccio Espagnol- rimsky-korsakov
L’arlesienne suite no.2 – bizet
Any tips for how to go about these? I have been practicing them, but I want to make sure I’m doing it right. I”m sure its a long shot right now, but I would love to be in an orchestra again. Although, at this point i would settle with being accepted, but i would like to be able to be in something lol.
i will be visiting my home town the first of march, so i will see if i can get in with my previous flute teacher while i’m there to work on the excerpts.

only advice I can give is to go in, and look Professional, look like you know what your doing. they might give you a bit of repertoire that the orchestra is going to play, to see how well you can handle it, and to see if your capable of playing at that level. I never played flute in an orchestra (i can play it though! :)) . but for violin, it helped decide which part you were going to be playing (violin 1 or 2). They might also ask about levels, im not sure what levels you have, but for me its royal conservatory, and you had to have a certain level to be considered 🙂
good luck
