Question by L.T.: How can the United States and Russia claim that the Northwest Passage should be international waters?
If you look at where the proposed passage, the darn thing goes straight THROUGH Canada!!!…..in fact it passes through the province of Nunavut and the Canada’s Northwest Territories which the federal government directly governs. I know the US and Russia want oil but this is probably the most outrageous claim I’ve heard of.

What is your point. Whoever wants to own it will have to go through war to own it and the Canadians will never fight for it so that leave the US and Russian to fend for it. It will never be Canada’s even though you are correct in that Canada should have it but will never be afforded the luxury.

The Americans are very cunning.
They can make any situation positive for themselves.
