Was Tchaikovsky music used in the movie “Patton”?

Question by ZBLOCKHEAD: In the movie “Patton”, was music by Tchaikovsky used in certain parts of the movie?
I heard some music by Tchaikovsky tonight and it brought out memories of that movie.(Patton), I tried to read the name of the music, but glasses were to weak. I did see opus 45, though.

I first posted this question in ‘music and movies’ section, where it resided for several hours with zero replies. I guess the kids that occupy that site didn’t have a clue.

The answer is yes
Patton/Tora! Tora! Tora! features some of the modern era’s finest orchestral performances. Indeed, The General’s March From Patton, a medley of the most dramatic cues from the soundtrack ), is a stirring piece that ranks with the 1812 Overture (by Tchaikovsky) and Fireworks Music (by Handel) as a power classic. … More elements of the medley along with some cues and incidental music that were not used in the score. also features some of the music from Tora! Tora! Tora!. While neither soundtrack is presented in its entirety, the music is ample evidence of Jerry Goldsmith’s reputation as one of Hollywood’s film music composers. This CD is an excellent addition to any orchestral collection — classical and/or contemporary. ~ Jim Brenholts, All Music Guide
