Question by Marjane Satrapi: Was the Soviet Union justified in its tension and possible aggression against the United States?
I asked if “Islamophobia” was comparable to the Red Scare
One of you said that the terrorists of today have no justification beyond blind hate in attacking the United States, but the Soviet Union’s position against the United States was legitimate because “they have been attacked too.”

Not in the least.
The Soviets DECLARED their intent to INITIATE aggression against the U.S.
They further ACTUALLY CLAIMED that attempts to defend against attacks constitutes "aggression."

I recommend you read your history and read about the Soviet invasion of Hungary, Poland and Czechoslovakia.

Not in the least. The CPSU had as one of its stated goals the exportation of the Revolution of the Proletariat. If anyone was attacked, it was the US.
