I personally really love cakes they bake in St. Petersburg. A cuppa with a slice of cake at one of many cafes on Nevsky Prospect – awesome! 🙂

Russian cuisine is really great and those people who have never tried it lost much.

There are a lot of very good restaurants in St. Petersburg:

@Kate because "black" cavier in the USA is not the cavier of Beluga, but the same"black caviar" as in Sweden:nothing good at all. There are a lot of kinds of fish which have the cavier of black colour, but these kinds of cavier are not the Beluga`s cavier. Beluga`s cavier is not permitted for export and import now. This fish needs to restore it`s quantity and is guarded now by the law of the Russian Federation.
@Jenny Lynn Crypto`s property, don`t tell us that you study at a publick school, because everybody will understand that you live in ghetto and your teachers calm you by the fairy teils how happy you are and how poor the other countries are. Let you eat your hamburger made not from meat and be merry.

Contrary to the previous post, Russians do not eat vodka everyday.
Neither caviar – black caviar now is rare and being sold at exorbitant price – about $ 300-400 per 100g. Red caviar we normally buy for some celebrations ($ 50-80 per 1 kg).
Typical Russian food (also in St.Petersburg)
Soups (Russian soups are normally not creme-soups):
Borsch
Okroshka (fizzy soup made of vegetables, meat and kvass)
Shchi (same as Borsch but without the beet root)
Chicken soup
Fish soup
Forest mushroom soup
Mains:
Chicken (Russians prefer dark meat)
Kotlety or Beefshtecks (=burgers)
Beef Stroganoff
Steaks
Fish (mainly white but also often salmon)
Forest mushrooms
Pelmeni (boiled meat dumplings)
Sidings:
Potatoes (whole or mashed, also fried)
Pasta
Rice
Buckwheat
Cabbage (stewed)
Appetizers & salads:
Russian Salad (locally called Olivier)
Sauerkraut (pickled cabbage)
Pickled tomatoes, cucumbers, forest mushrooms
and Blini of course
Apart from that, I guess you can find any type of cuisine in St.Pete, including Italian, Georgian, Central Asian, Japanese, Chinese…..
Worst case you can visit McDonald's.
