What are some good Russian war movies to see?

Question by SolidSnake: What are some good Russian war movies?
I want to watch a movie in Russian that has English subtitles. Do you know any good war movies from 1995-2011?

The 9th Company is a Russian movie based on events that took place in Iraq, 1988. Its main battle depicts the Russian infantry holding a Hill while largely outnumbered, do they succeed or fail? Watch it!

Although i don’t enjoy movies in another language this was a very good movie from start to finish.

It was released in 2005.

I second the suggestion of the 1st person who answered in this thread. I have no idea why he has gotten so many thumbs down. The 9th company is a fairly well made action type movie. Of course, it is about the Soviet war in Afghanistan, not Iraq. Here is a link to the movie trailer: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FVB9Xz2DyME

I’d suggest movies about WWII as it is a popular theme for war movies in Russia.

    Zvezda (The star) 2002
    Kukushka (The cuckoo) 2002
    Franz + Polina (2006)
My iz buduschego (We are from the future) 2008
Brestskaya krepost (The Brest fortress) 2010

I’ve watched and liked them all
