Good news and bad news: The good news is that you can dress almost normally and you’ll fit in. The bad news is that your teacher may not believe you. My youngest daughter is now a Moscow University student and there is no uniform. However before college most schools have uniforms and hers were blue shirts with a white top and white socks. Every day! Here are some Russian school uniform photos: http://englishrussia.com/2007/05/25/russian-school-graduation-day/
Keep in mind that Russian kids do “dress up” more than American kids even to just go shopping, etc. Girls love to wear skirts or fancy jeans. “Dress down” is not very popular of a concept in Russia. Some guys have a mullet but if so, it’s not really a huge mullet but most guys have longer hair on the back of the head. The most popular clothes are sports brands such as Nike, Adidas, Puma, and Reebok.
Anything shiny like gold and silver, and jeans with zipper-pockets works too. Music: Techno dance is wildly popular music and its played everywhere. Rap/hip-hop is okay but a distanct second to techno. Most Russian kids will listen to some classical music too as well as rock. Their interest in the arts and music are much broader than American kids.

I just where regular clothes. Jeans and a top. Sometimes dresses and skirts. Of course when it is colder I wear a hat, scarf, gloves jacket and boots.
I'm not from Moscow, I'm from St. Petersberg but it is the same.

Everything got so unified during the latest decade. Including clothes. Crowds from different countries look almost the same. We all wear more or less dodgy Chinese stuff.

Russians dress just like people all over Europe do; normal clothes but generally a little more formal than in the US. Jeans (usually a darker wash), regular shirts, skirts, shoes (boots, sneakers, heels) … seriously, it's just usual European clothes. If you're referring to traditional Russian clothes, I don't think anyone really wears them anymore. At least not for every day, maybe for a festival or some thing like that.
