Only by proxy. The Korea, Vietnam, and Afghanistan conflicts were supported by both sides but never officially fought. In fact, during the Russo-Japanese War we took the side of the Russinas in order to weaken the Japanese Empire over the Pacific and establish our dominance in the Pacific.
There was of course the tension after the Bolsheviks took power in 1917, but we never had a declared conflict or resolution.

While we each supported various sides in political "police actions," the Cold War was a conflict, and in October, 1962, Russia began building up a nuclear missile arsenal in Cuba, just 90 miles away from our shores.
In what has become known as the Missiles of October, JFK and Nikita Khrushchev had a stand-off that involved the United Nations. In the end, the USSR backed away and it led to a nuclear missile proliferation treaty that limited each nation's missile arsenal.
The space race was also part of a conflict, because it was believed whoever controlled space could attack the planet from above. The US-USSR space station was a compromise, but the race to the moon was originally begun as a defense move by each country.
The conflict continues. Russia is a supporter of Israel's enemies, the US supports Israel. We have taken opposite sides in Viet Nam, in Korea, in the Gulf, and elsewhere.

The cold war qualifies as a conflict.
We declared it over, but its really still going on with not as much publicity.
The current battlefield is Iran (yes thats Iran with an n and not Iraq with a q).
Its my personal opinion that mega-governments are as much a failure of society as a monopoly is a failure of a market economy.
