re check your awareness of russian history. By the time the russian revolution began Rasputin was dead. However, the population in general were quite ignorant of Rasputin's influence on the Czar. Where Rasputin upset the status quo was with the higher level of russian society, the political establishment, as well as the russian armed service top dogs. The ordinary russian people who did know rasputin venerated him as they did with all ''Holy men''.

Rasputin was murdered in 1916, before the revolution occurred. But before that, many People believed that his control over the Tsar and particularly the Tsarina was absolute. Privately, people accused Rasputin and the Tsarina of having an affair.
