The US has had an issue with Russia since WW2. Most of the rest of the world has not shared this ongoing paranoia about Communism because it's failure is self-evident. Anyway, consider the bailouts the US gov has made: Socialism much?
It is like your "World Series football" : Nobody else plays your version (which is just an evolution of Rugby anyway). It is America claiming to represent the world, when most Americans cannot even find their own country on a map. Russia is not the issue: US militarism is the issue.
Whether President Obama will "have issues" remains to be seen. True, he is not the hick, backward cowboy wannabe GWB is, but does hhe actually have what it takes to deal with others properly? Time will tell, but I doubt he will have too many problems because he has massive resources and a forgiving media behind him.

Russophobia. Russia is only "democratic" and "free" when its economy is in the toilet, like back in the 90s.
Now that their economy is back on track thanks to Putin, it suddenly became the "evil empire" again, with all sorts of rumors and accusations thrown against it. Typical Western behavior.
And please realize that America doesn't represent the world. It's never represented the will of anyone except NATO and a few other puppet states scattered around the globe.
