Question by The Genius: What do people find appealing in caviar?
For a part of our English class’s study of the 1920’s, we had to host a party based on the time period. One of the foods brought was caviar, and as a part of the grade we were required to taste it with cream cheese on crakers. The flavor/texture was pretty nasty in my opinion. Is it an aquired taste? What do people find appealing about it?

I don’t like it one bit. There again fish eggs (roe) has never appealed to me. I can’t give anything to your question, sorry. I do think the story of it being so very expensive and only for the upper classes was enough for people to pretend it was really something worthwhile.

I always liked caviar of any kind .The saltiness and the eggs popping with flavor. I also like anchovies which have much the same flavor.
Then again I have a wide taste in food including smoked beef tongue and eel.

You've got me. I've tried gourmet Russian sturgeon caviar, and it still tasted to me like chomping on seawater. No thanks.
