It is a Pierogi. They are little pastries made with dough(usually with potato flour). You can fill them with anything really. Potato, Cheese, Meat, the neighbor’s whiny cat. 🙂

it is also known as pirogi. it is a very common food of east europe. it is a heavy elastic dough, rolled out thin, and cut into squares. then a miture of ground meat or potato, stewed prunes etc is placed on each square, which is then folded over and sealed at the edges. kind of like ravioli. they are then boiled, and can be baked too. i've had them baked at a hungarian restuarant in NYC. my family has them boiled with a browned butter and cream sauce. the ones with potato or prune are very good with a browned butterand honey sauce. Get a recipe from your library and get cooking!

In Poland it might be called "pierogi," but in Russia, it's "pirozhki." It means "little pies" and it is little rolls made with yeast dough and stuffed with sweet or savory filling, often potato.
