Or where could I find this information. I need the copyright date most likely by the author. Thank YOU!

First published in a journal named The Russian Messenger, it appeared in twelve monthly installments in 1866. Pax – C.

    The original copyright is apparently 1866, but the actual copyright for the version you have will be on the opposite page of the title page in the book you have. That should be the date you use if you are citing anything from it.

    It doesn't matter, the copyright is no longer in effect.

    Because it was written in Russia in the mid 1800's, I doubt
    it was ever in copyright at all.
