What Russian energy needs might be met without relying on nuclear facilities?

Question by Neris: What are some other energy needs that Russia might be met without relying nuclear facilities?
What are some other energy needs that Russia might be met without relying nuclear facilities or other enviromentally dangerous means? ( As to say, what else can Russia use as energy besides using nuclear power due to the damage that Chernobyl caused back in 1986)

if you rule out the fossil fuels, then the best green options would probably be hydropower and wind power, but given Russia’s vast fossil fuel capacity I seriously doubt that Putin and co will look further than coal, oil and natural gas.

you don,t know much about nuclear power. this is like never driving again because your neighbor got drunk, and wrecked his car. do a little research on this completely man made screw up. the rest of the world is rapidly embracing nuclear power generation. it works, doesn,t blow up, is amazingly energy dense, has minimal carbon foot print, does not create three headed fish……… i could go on. i did my research on this topic. i live in northern Illinois. we have eleven functioning nuclear reactors here. i,ve lived here all of my life. i,m 63.
