Question by : What will I need to know about when I ride on the Trans siberian railroad?
I am going to take the Trans siberian railroad next next summer and I have a few questions to people who have already experienced the Trans siberian railroad. 🙂
-What things should I take with me (in my backpack), except basic things?
-What are some safety issues I should watch out for?
-What is the train like?
-What are some things I ‘must see’ on the way?
(Just some extra info. I will be going from Moscow to Ulanbaatar (and back to Ulan Ude), then further on to Vladivostok, taking plane to Sakhalin and then boat and railway from Wakkanai to Tokyo.)
If you have any suggestions on which cities I must see and which ‘must sees’ there are, please feel free to share them! 🙂 I appreciate every answer! 😀

the train is old, boring after a period of time. You will stop in some interesting towns; you will be given a brochure about it. pack your phone charger, warm clothes, flashlight, camera, some russian books in english (like Tolstoy, Gorky, Chekhov, ect.), basic russian dictionary (i recommend) and maybe dvd player, because it will get boring sometimes. The train is pretty old, but its warm and clean, and the food is picked up on every stop, so its pretty good, but rather simple.) you will see lots of snow and lots of woods most of the time. As for safety issues, i cant think of anything that you would be in control of.
