Kandinsky’s works were purely abstract. As a theoretician in art he went through a lengthy period of development and maturation resulting in a unique special approach to painting. He emphasized “inner beauty” as a main aspect of his most colorful art.

It is non-objective more than abstract. Abstract still has some reference to copying reality, but non-objective art does not. Non-objective paintings are just "compositions".
