.He Stalin had never trusted the West.Not during the war or after (world war11) Truman promised Stalin the west would open a 2nd front in Europe.A promise that couldn.t be met. At war’s end Stalin wasn’t going to allow the US to be the only nuclear nation.So the USSR got the bomb.The rest is history

Stalin's paranoia (didn't trust any one) fueled by Truman's unrealistic promised of a second front was the cause of the cold war. He also had a huge thirst for power.
