Invasion of course. There was a pushing and shoving for world dominance. The stale mate came in the proxy wars of small nation caught in the middle like Iraq and Iran, north and south Korea, Afghanistan with ben landen being helped be the US to fight the USSR.
Ok course different nations and people with tell you their version of that story too.

There wasn't simply one. The US and the Soviet Union had conflicts over many things during that time period, including their military coalitions, espionage (spies), weapons development (nuclear weapons), propaganda (advertising of the war and malportrayal of the opposition) and technology (which also included missions to space).
You also have to remember that the US and Soviet Union were very powerful in their own sides of the world and conflict was inevitable. The main problems were weapons, espionage and technological advances, however.

Communist ideals represent everything the constitution isn't. So naturally if the ideals spread, many feared that would spell the end of democracy, you could say.
That's why so many artists and such were persecuted for being presumed communist sympathizers. People feared it would infiltrate society silently through the media…
I don't think the soviet union could have gotten its act together to forcefully conquer much of anything… communism kinda craps out like that. =P

ok first, most not all but most people don't even ____ ing know the real concept of the realycommunism ( which in the world never existed)
they were more of a threat to the US since they were the world superpower and no in europe not a lot of countries wanted communism they only got it because the Soviet Union controlled mst of eastern Europe until it was broken up in 1991
that is why you see the west is far better than the east since the west was more industrialized than the Soviet owned countries, and communism does sound like a good idea, but you have people in the world like big coperate owners who are ____ ing gready as hell and would backstab anyone to reach the top (Hitler, Stalin, etc.)they were more politicians but you see what i mean

i believe the threat in Europe was just fear of ground invasion and or nuclear attack, the fear from communist influence was mainly an american fear that southern asian nations (such as vietnam) would turn communist and give the soviets another base to launch nuclear weapons.

Originally, It was a big threat seeing as how soviets were allied with hitler. If Hitler hadn't invaded USSR and broke their treaty…well…the war could of ended very differently..
