Life for the Russian people before WW1 were veryyyyy bad. There was a tremendous gap between rich and poor and the poor people barely had enough to survive. The King Nicholas at the time thought that by joining WW1, he would win and restore the pride of the Russian people and that they would live better lives and wouldn’t be as furious with him. He was wrong, of course, and there were lots of casualities during the war. The situation in Russia worsened and they suffered, if possible, even more. They were fed up with the king and rebelled him. Even his soldiers, who were brainwashed into thinking that King Nicholai was awesome…, really saw his true colors and they didn’t protect him from the rebellions. There was a whole Russian Revolutionary war and Lenin was a very popular leader because he promised the Russian people everything they wanted to hear. The Russian people were desperate and put all their trust in him. He promised them that in communism, everyone was equal (which it wasnt until then with the huge gap between rich and poor) and everyone would live peacefully. He said that there would be food and land for all. They picked him as dictator, and the Russian people put their complete faith and trust in him.

Hope I was helpful…
