I haven’t heard that piece by many different preformers, by my favorite cadenza is played by Yuja Wang.

Great performances, but I must agree, Gutierrez’s cadenza is out of this world.

My own preference is for the performance by Michel Béroff from his recording with the Leipzig Gewandhaus Orchestra (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SZKGph7HWrY&t=04m59s ).
It’s hard to put into words exactly what I like so much about this one…somehow it just unites the whole cadenza and makes everything *make sense* somehow. Everything flows together, everything seems natural, nothing’s disjointed…
For a completely different take (one which I find fascinating in places but not really to my taste), check out Alexander Toradze’s take on the cadenza. Unfortunately only the second half is up on Youtube at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VjJQovEQSxM .
