What’s the Costs of visiting 2014 Sochi Olympics?

Question by : Costs of visiting 2014 Sochi Olympics?
Ok so why am I asking this in hockey? I asked in “Olympics” and didn’t get an answer and I would assume a fair amount of people who like hockey have been to winter Olympics (maybe in Vancouver) and would have knowledge on this type of thing. And also because I know this section has a fair amount of activity and I will most likely get some answers.

So I’ve always been fascinated with the winter Olympics, much more so than the summer Olympics. In 2014 I’ll be in my 2nd year of college and my college is well-know for having very long breaks. I was wondering granted I had the time, how much would air-fare from the south eastern united states to Sochi, lodging in Sochi, eating in Sochi, and payment to see, let’s say an event a day (I don’t think you have to pay for every event either) per person per week or day?

Also have you ever been to the Olympics? How much did it cost you and how long did you stay (I think I’d only be able to stay at most 5 days)? Did you have a good time? Thanks answering this will help me a lot. I figure I better start saving and planning now.

Pretty much roughly how much money should I plan on having to save up if I want to go on this trip?

Thanks.
Don’t feel like you have to write a long answer even 1 sentence telling me how much you spent will be extremely helpful to me.

Return air fare to Moscow is about $ 1000.
There is going to be a new high speed rail link from Moscow to Sochi area. The 1600 Kms should only take about 12 hours when completed. Add another $ 500 for this.
Ten nights in a hotel at $ 200 (extra budget) should be another $ 2000. Tickets are another thing. In Vancouver tickets were sold via lottery. I don’t know what Sochi is planning but the average price at Vancouver was about $ 150 per seat per event. Add another grand to cover these. Nice holiday for $ 5000 per person without meals or souvenirs.
Meals in Europe usually run about $ 100 per person per day. Higher in high tourist areas. I’d suggest a budget of $ 7500 per person would be about bottom line.
