BIAN

    It's only a small sampling, but Bilan immigrants to the US who came through Ellis Island listed the following home countries:

    Galacia
    Poland
    Austria
    Russia
    Hungary
    Yugoslavia

    These are only clues, of course. Not all people named Bilan have the same origin.

    You would need to research YOUR specific family to see whether it came from one of these countries. The only way you can do that accurately is by researching their documents (birth/marriage/death records, land records, church records, etc. etc.)
