When in russia am I allowed to ask questions about there history?

Question by Fsafasfa S: When I go to russia am I allowed to ask questions about the tsar and there history?
I am going to muesums and I love the romanov history, but my grandmother who came from russia and left in 1922 says I can go to jail for speaking of there names 0-0 is that true

Russians have their quirks regarding denied history[1] but I highly doubt that tsars would be one of them – at least to the extent that one would get thrown into prison.

    You are definitely allowed to ask any type of questions regarding tsar and history. This is not Soviet Union anymore. Back in the day people would be arrested for simply talking about history and old tsar regime.

    You will probably get mixed answers from various people. Some will try to make Russia look good in front of a foreigner, some will be strongly opinionated and tell you more than you want to hear, others will pretend they know something, which in fact they don't. Overall, ask as many people as you can and you'll be able to form your own opinion based on the answers you receive. Don't feel embarrassed asking questions and definitely don't be scared asking.
