When were most of the palaces built in St. Petersburg?

Question by .: When were most of the palaces built in St. Petersburg and was it like an elite neighborhood for Royalty?
as St. Petersburg has a number of palaces ..all around St. Peter? how compared to around London?

how the royalty lived around that period and who lived in the different palaces? what are the names of the top ones if can list and when built?

how Peterhof palace compared to the others? and was this the top hang out area for the royalty? why so? and how Peter the Great lived with his neighbors during? and why?

St. Petersburg was the capital of the Russian Empire, thats why. All the aristocrats and people connected to the royal family were in st petersburg. I would say kind of like in london, but styles of the buildings are completely different, and the palaces in petersburg are bigger. Some that i know are the marble palace, nicholas palace, mariinsky palace, and of course the winter palace. Peterhof is a big complex of palaces, the richest one i think, and very beautiful. Peter the Great lived there actually not that often, as he was always travelling, and im guessing it took forever to build. why? because he was the boss of russia back then, and he felt like it)
