Question by Susie: Where can I find unique Russian gifts like the babushka nesting dolls or the pretty lacquer boxes?
I am trying to find a gift for my mom and she loves gifts from different ethnicities? I recently saw my friend with some Russian stuff like the nesting dolls which are all hand painted and very beautiul and lacquer boxes which are like little gems painted beautifully. My mom would love these but I am having a hard time trying to find these nesting dolls and lacquer boxes.

I have actually come across many different sites that sell Russian Lacquer Boxes and Matryoshka Dolls (nesting dolls, but Matryoshka is the actual name for these cute Babushka dolls). Many of the sites are very expensive, however when I cam across http://www.lilianainternational.com/ I found a very large variety and great selection of the Lacquer Boxes and Matryoshka dolls at very competitive prices. I would suggest checking it out and I am sure no matter what you get there your mom will be very happy!

well i don't know where you live, but you should try going to your downtown and look for a russian store that sells them. If you live anywhere near san francisco, i know they have a little store on Pier 39 that sells those matryoshkis, really cute..but pricey, keep that in mind.

Ordering online may be your best bet, but depending on where you live you may be able to go to a store. Some US locations have large Russian immigrant populations, so you could have luck in a larger city.
