Question by Sabre: Where can I buy a longer barrel for my AK47?
I recently bought a WASR 10/63 UF with what I believe to be a 16″ barrel, but I was wondering for accuracies sake if I might be able to find another 7.62×39 barrel that would fit. Maybe a 22″ or something to that effect.

Most barrels are only 16″. I know there are 18 and 20 inch barrels around but I can’t find them. And then good luck trying to replace it.

I wouldn't mess with it when the ak was designed they intended it for engagements 300 meters and in so it isn't too bad. I can shoot accurately at 150 yards open sight. You would be better off just buying a different gun for longer range.

What you want to do is hopeless and way too much of an investment to make in a WASR. Suggest you forget about it. If you want an accurate AK, (Say inside 1.50" @ 100 yards) I'd suggest you go with either a factory Arsenal, Inc. or a custom-built Krebs carbine.
Even a large 7.62 x 54mm SVD Dragonov isn't going to give you really good accuracy that is equal to, say, an American M40-A1/A5. The 7.62 x 39mm is, indeed, an inherently inaccurate round that I really don't care to work with at much beyond 200 yards. (Actually, if you're used to precision shot placement, the 7.62 x 39mm sucks at 100 yards.)

There is too much slop in the bolt/bolt carrier/receiver to make it much more accurate with a barrel change. Longer barrels just increase velocity within reason. A stiffer (heavier barrel) would help more than a longer barrel, but you probably would not notice a difference on a WASR-10.

It's not going to be very accurate either way. The cartridge is inherently inaccurate.
With the cost of adding the new barrel… and the labor of having someone do it. (You need a press and a special jig… You'd probably have to mail it somewhere.) You could save money by selling that rifle, and actually buying one that's accurate.
Cost benefit analysis says it's a bad idea…. That's assuming you could find a barrel.

A longer barrel will increase velocity. It will not increase accuracy.
