Question by : Where can I find the ensemble sheet music for “Shostakovich waltz no. 2”?
So i formed this symphonic octet and I wanted to play Shostakovich’s Waltz no. 2 but I can’t find the music for free. I would prefer it to be free. (Not to sound stingy or anything) anyways, please help!! Thanks.

You can’t find the music ‘for free’ because it is not available ‘for free’. It is in copyright until 2045. Yes, you DO sound stingy, wanting to deprive musicians and their families of their rightful income. Do you think that musicians live rent-free or can just walk into a shop and say “I’m a musician” and be given everything for nothing? No? Them isn’t stealing from them and their estates wrong?

Del, You know that Shostakovich has been dead over 25 years. It’s his publisher that will get most of the fee for this music. I agree with you that music should be paid for when in copyright, but don’t make the OP feel guilty like they are taking money out of the composer’s starving child.
