Question by Rayzen: Does anyone know of a website where one can hear slowly-spoken Russian language?
The website, Deutsche Welle (“German World”) is an excellent website for learning German, because they have, among other things, the ability to listen to slowly-spoken German lessons. It is great. Does anyone know of such a website for learning Russian? There are, of course, Russian radio stations, but they speak too quickly for me to understand, so I am looking for a place where I can hear it spoken more slowly.

Windows Media Player has a Speed Control that few people know about. It is super, and you have continuous control over the speed of audio playback – either slower or faster. You can use this with any audio on-demand streamed over the internet, or for any mp3 or wma files you have on your hard drive. But of course it cannot affect any 'live' streaming audio.
I use this with free downloadable MP3 programs in Russian here: http://www.oneplace.com/ministries/thru-the-bible…
After downloading the mp3 file, start the playback in Windows Media Player, and then in the player menu, choose: View, Enhancements,
and then put a check-mark next to "Show Enhancements".
The enhancements include the Speed Control, and they show up at the bottom of the media player. If you see a different control, just click the right arrow repeatedly to cycle through the nice collection of controls until you see the Speed Control.
Other than this suggestion, I have Russian language teaching software from the Transparent Language company. All their Russian texts also have audio of a native speaker. There is a speed control for that built in to the program. Transparent Language costs $ 70 from their website, or $ 50 through ebay.
