Chagall was sui generis — unique — but all you need do is google him to find many sites. There are also many books on Chagall, and they will be better and more serious and detailed than anything you can find online.
Since Chagall wasn’t, as a Jew, able to receive a sustained, traditional art training in Russia, I’d say his studies under theatrical deisgner Leon Bakst and then his arrival in Paris during the incredibly fertile period of the early 20th-century modernist painting (ca. 1910) were most important to his development.
But you need to read and study the works. We can’t just tell you what to think. Serious art study doesn’t work that way.
