Question by wc_gam3r: Who developed the concepts of perestroika and glasnost?
What did they hope they would do, and why? did he accomplish it? Why or why not?

Mikhail Gorbachev. He realized that the Soviet Union simply wasn’t working, and tried to fix it. It turned out to be unfixable, and collapsed. It is to Gorbachev’s everlasting credit that he managed to guide the transition with as few casualties as actually occurred.
