I need 2 artists who came before Kandinsky and used line or color in a similar way to Kandinsky. They do have to come before him.

Well, the other members of Der Blaue Reiter group were highly influencial on Kandinsky but that may be too close to the same period. If not, then I would mention Franz Marc who actually began breaking into color experimentation before Kandinsky. You can see it in his 1910 painting ‘Horse in a Landscape.’
If you have to go much farther back then I would bring up Paul Gauguin with regards to color and Van Gogh with regards to experimental line work.
If you dive into the post impressionists working in the 1890’s you’ll hit on the artists and movements that the Der Blaue Reiter group was seeing.

The trouble with your question is that Kandinsky was the first painter to create works of arty that were truely abstract. In a sense he invented abstract painting so nobody came before.
