Question by manrush: Why are Yanks and Brits so poorly informed about Russia, Putin and Medvedev?
Really, why are they either poorly informed or completely misinformed. Is it the media? Is it leftover Cold War prejudices?

It's a general fear of studying the country. As so much bad is spoken about the country, some wish not to be wise about Russia rather than being seen as a communist. It's not the Media it's peer pressure.

They are not interested. There is enough drama in their own countries.
It was more interest in Russia when this country was behind iron curtain. However I also learned that Western world was fed with information that they wanted to hear about Russia, not the real one.
