Question by Everwing Windrider: Why did some scientists reveal the Manhatten Project to the Soviet Union?
This is actually an essay topic i need help on.

“A number of scientists chose to reveal the secrets of the Manhatten Project to the Soviet Union during the war. Why did they do this? When and how were they discovered?”

Thanks for the help beforehand, and if possible any good sources i can look at?

They did not want the United States to have exclusive power over a weapon that could rule the world, and sympathized with the Soviet Union since they suffered so many casualties during World War 2. Some also had communist sympathies.

Because they were traitors. Most of them were jewish and had ties with the communist party in the Soviet Union. One prominent traitor, Fuchs, was raised a Lutheran but joined the communists in germany during the 30s. When the nazis came to power he fled abroad and ended up in the USA. He repaid their kindness with treachery.

The early communist party was heavily influenced by jews, Marx himself was of course jewish and it didn't help that jews were seen as foreigners in the USA at the time.
