Question by Douglas: Why did the last Tsar of Russia change the name of St. Petersburg to Petrav and why didnt it last?
I know I’m spelling that wrong, but I’m watching a show on the history channel and that fact was mentioned, but it didn’t go any further.
Right, but why did it go back?

The city’s name was changed from St. Petersburg to Petrograd in 1914. The reason why it was changed was due to World War I. The government officials and military leaders thought that St. Petersburg sounded too German.
