Why is Lenin considered a dictator?

Question by Alexandra: Why is Vladimir Lenin considered a dictator?
I know he founded The Soviet Union (which turned out to be highly oppressive, particularly under Stalin), but what did Lenin do during his tenure as the country’s first leader to earn him the reputation of being a dictator?
Sorry, I should rephrase that. His style of governance gave him absolute authority, so by definition he’s a dictator. What I should have asked is:

“Why is Vladimir Lenin considered an oppressive dictator?”

Undermining the welfare of his citizens by collectivizing and privatizing all properties to purchase or rather enter into the arms race…This in turn brought severe famine into his homeland…Seeing a person suddenly collapse on the side of the road is a common incident during his time…If that’s not enough, how about bringing all people to work at extra time without proper wages and food rations?..Will that be enough?…

Hope this helps…

He held all authority and used it ruthlessly to ensure his continued control and to impose his economic/political agenda on those around him to their detriment. That sounds like a dictator to me.
