Question by MattyB: Will Russia let westerners work in defence?
I’m intereste if it would be possible to get a job in defence in Russia as a Westerner.

That depends on what country in the West you are from. The answer is yes but its very limited and mostly related to the field of disabling nukes.
Edit* you might think i’m correct but my American friend did work in the military helping them with nuke disposal in Russia for 2 years. He had to live in a village outside Chelyabinsk.

I believe that the first poster above is completely incorrect. In order to work in defence you would have to obtain a security clearance and in order to receive a security clearance you would have to be a citizen. If you are a researcher then you can work in a university and theoretically you can participate in research that has military applications, but you cannot work in an actual defence research laboratory.
