It might for a while I believe Russia is rattling sabres to drive up the price of oil again, the price had been dropping and these thugs know like the Iranians if you want the price up just stir up a little instability and up it goes, works every time.
What do you think? Answer below!

No, because Bush has too much on his plate right now. However he may leave the escalation to McCain if he is elected which he wont, Russia is already withdrawing from Georgia nd things are calming down. In any case I don't believe it's a threat to America and we should stay out of it.

I think Bush's rhetoric is causing a stir in the Russian government. While the troops seem to be withdrawing, at the same time, it is becoming evident that the troops they are most reluctant to withdraw are those watching the seaport(s), airport(s) and the pumping station controlling the oil pipeline.
A very UNeducated guess would be that there are factions in the Russian government that are willing to live up to the cease-fire and consider territorial defense a done deal, and those who are considering the territorial dispute only a part of the conflict and are either concerned that the U.S. has designs on the pipeline, or have designs on the pipeline themselves.
I think that at the very least, there is a faction in the Russian government that views the situation as a U.S./Nato vs Russian conflict and are pushing for escalation while the former are off balance.

Nah. I think it will go away like the Chechnyan issue (at least from an American perspective).

Understanding that Putin is a nationalist: he will do whatever he feels is in the best interest of Russia regardless of what the rest of the world thinks and regardless of the effects on the rest of the world, goes a long way towards anticipating his next move.
We are witnessing a rebirth of the former Soviet Union. It is a VERY dangerous time. If those in charge are not careful yes, things will definitely escalate.

It's not in US and Russia's strategic interests. But yes, tough rhetoric will continue on both sides. Tactical goals are basically opposite.

I don't think it will reach war. Russia isn't dumb enough to think it can beat all NATO.

Yes it will. I can't tell how much though. If Obama gets elected and his plan to "disarm America" goes through, we are in big trouble…
