Can russians read english-translated russian language?

Question by c_roch: Can russians read english-translated russian?
Now this i think says light your candle Зажги свою свечу! Акция
and grandmother in russian is “babushka” but thats just so we can read it. russian language is unpronouncable if it is written like they write it by english readers. so if i were to type “babushka” to a russian, would they understand it or would it have to be in their letters?

There are no strict rules for transliterating Russian, but yes, we do understand if you write ‘babushka’ or ‘Zazhgi svoyu svechu!’
We often use roman letters when communicate in chat or from abroad when there is no Russian keyboard available.
