Did the US and USSR ever fight directly?

Question by Ryan P: Did the US and USSR ever fight directly during the Cold War?
I’m pretty sure the only time they came close to direct confrontation was during wars where one side fought another side supplied by other power, such as the USSR into Afghanistan (weapons from the US), but i just want to make sure that they the United States Military and the USSR’s military never actually fought each other

Regular units never fought each other.

there may have been examples of special forces on either side of a proxy war, but I’m guessing that would still be classified.

That’s correct, the statement above. The Cold War was NOT a war. I was a state of TENSION of “Who is going to push the nuclear button first?” The US of USSR?

When communism fell, so did this tension. BUT, Kim Jong-in just, sort of, bring hat tension back in a 2nd cold war situation!

Yes and no, as Soviet pilots flew MiG-15 jets in the Korean War against the U.S's F-86 Sabre. However, the U.N never acknowledge this as it was reluctant to start a war with the USSR.

    they did.

recently I've read an interview with an ex-soviet "volunteer" who was sent to Vietnam to operate the anti aircraft missles the soviets were sending there. The guy claimed it was he who shot down McCain's plane. Soviet "volunteer" pilots also flew the Mig fighters both in Korea and in Vietnam

guess who interrogated the US POV's- especially those with technical skills (missle operators and such) and where are the POV's who are still classified as "missing"

The Cold War was not a war, we did not fight, the Cold War was when we feared communism the most, we were worried the world was going to become communist. Why don't you google it and see what you come up with?
