Lenin’s real name was Vladimir Ilyich Ulyanov. Lenin was the name that he adopted.

Lenin’s eldest brother, alexander – a member of a political group, was executed by Tsar Alexander III for the attempt on the Tsar’s life. Its ironic that Alexander Kerensky, the future Prime Minister, had been the school teacher of Lenin’s elder brother went to college.
Lenin denied that he and his eldest brother were ever close or that Lenin got into politics because of his eldest brother’s execution and that Lenin wanted revenge against Tsar Alexander III’s son, Nicholas II.
