Trotskii was instrumental in the Bolshevik victory in the Civil War. He was a brilliant organiser, an erudite writer, a master tactician and a popular leader.
His organisation of the Red Army was what differentiated it from the majority of the opposing Armies. It was dedicated, committed to the cause, disciplined and capably led.
