    The AK-47 went out of production in 1959. The AKM (and clones) will be around for another century at least.

    That damn thing is going to be around for a long time. Hell it's still the best assault rifle in the world right now. Too much of a good thing like that is hard to let go.

    The AK-47 is an insanely well designed weapon. Until something easier to produce and more reliable comes around, I imagine it will be in wide use. The M16 is based on the AK.

    itll be around as long as any quality gun, like someone just said the 1911 just hit 100. now the ak 47 is one of the most reliable, sturdy and consistant assault rifles around, so my guess, a long long long time

    The saying goes if its not broken dont fix it………….. since this is a cheap, reliable, and effective weapon, it will be around for a very long time.
