Question by b b bj j bhj Vgjv gvgjugju: How much and how hard would it be to modify an AK-47?
I am a dominant left hander. I do everything left handed. And i know the AK is made for right handed shooters. I want to get an AK-47, but i want to rotated the chamber so the cartages wont hit me in the face when i shot. How hard and how much would it cost me? I live in NY if that matters.

It would require a new barrel, new bolt, new bolt carrier, and receiver. I would guess $ 1,000 to $ 1,500 for custom parts and for a gunsmith to install them at a very minimum.

cut a slot………….. Na… just fooling with you. I don't know if anyone makes a left hand AK but you would spend more than it's worth to modify one –if it could be done at all.
If you move up to AR rifles…Stag Arms makes a dedicated lefty version.

it would be like building a whole new rifle. most of the AK-47 semi auto variants ive seen shoot the spend brass pretty far forward, as compared to sideways.
or, you could buy a quality gun like a left hand AR-15…..
