Question by OfficeFanatic!: Attending school in Russia?
In about 3 years, Im gonna start college. I really wish to attend a school in Russia. Currently I live in the US, BUT I do have Russian citizenship. Im wondering what are my chances of getting in and how much school usually costs there. Also are there dorms?

Best of luck getting into МГУ. You might have the best grades in US, but to get into that University you need connections or money. Even a foreign student has to jump through hoops in order to get into it. I suggest you start researching now and start finding out if there is anybody in your family that knows somebody that knows somebody…. http://www.msu.ru/en/admissions/
The bureaucracy and corruption at МГУ is in full effect so be prepared. I am definitely not trying to discourage you in any way, just presenting reality.
Best of Luck to you!

Your GPA in high school will obviously have an effect on admission – I suggest you start working towards a 4.0 now. What level of bribery, extortion, and/or cronyism might be required is not something I would be fully qualified to address – you can count on that level being above zero.

Yes, there are dorms – "hall of residence". Apparently they vary in cost, starting at $ 75/month

As for the real costs, that's easy – but not simple:

    Russian Language Standard Programme
    September 2009–June 2010

    1. Full-Time Tuition — 26 academic hours per week :

    Academic Year (38 weeks): $ 3870*
    Autumn Semester (16 weeks): $ 1770*
    Spring Semester (22 weeks): $ 2470*
    Other Periods (4 weeks minimum): $ 120 a week

    2. Part-Time Tuition — 18 academic hours per week:

    Academic Year (38 weeks): $ 3070*
    Other Periods (4 weeks minimum): $ 95 a week

    * If paid in one instalment. If paid in several instalments, course fees are calculated at the rate of $ 120 per week for full-time tuition and $ 95 per week for part-time tuition.

    Pre-University Programme
One academic year programme: September 2009–June 2010

    1. Preparation for Undergraduate Studies: $ 3770*
    2. Preparation for Postgraduate Studies (except Science and Economics): $ 3770*
    3. Preparation for Postgraduate Studies in Science and Economics: $ 3970*

One and a half academic year programme: March 2010–June 2011

Preparation for Undergraduate and Postgraduate Studies: $ 4870*

    * If paid in one installment. If paid in several installments, course fees are calculated at the rate of the Russian Language Standard Programme.

    Russian Language Summer Programmes
    July–August 2010

    1. Full-Time Tuition (24 academic hours per week): $ 195 per week
    2. Part-Time Tuition (20 academic hours per week): $ 170 per week

Your expenses can be estimated as follows:
Preparatory course in the Russian language and main subjects in the CIS (September, 1st – June, 30th ) – see the price list.
Faculty tuition fee – see the price list.
Cost of accommodation in a hall of residence – from $ 75 per month (according to the living conditions).
Cost of medical certificate and AIDS test – $ 75.
Health insurance or contract on medical service -from $ 150.
    Russian language test – $ 40 – $ 50.
Cost of examination of the academic documentation -from $ 40.
Translation of academic documentation -from $ 20.
International students do not get a scholarship. Borrowing books from the library of the University is free of charge.
