How to decock an AK-47 rifle?

Question by CURIOUS GEORGE: How do you decock an AK-47 rifle?
I know some handguns like the Sig Sauers have a safety decocker on them. I can also decock my AR-15’s safely without an accidental discharge. Is it possible to decock an AK-47 rifle? And how do I do that?

Yep you can. Remove the mag and round from the chamber and dry fire the thing 😉 AK-47s can take dry firing and any other abuse you dish out to it so don’t worry.

Remove the mag and clear the chamber and then hold the bolt halfway back as you pull the trigger.

It SHOULDN'T be decocked with a round in the chamber. You would just have to eject the round to recock it anyway. Always clear the chamber and replace the round in the mag after you decock the weapon.

Only way to decock either the AK-47 or the AR-15 is to ensure the magazine is removed and that the rifle is empty of ammunition, then close the bolt and squeeze the trigger. This is also known as dry-firing.
