There were several stock depictions of Stalin in propaganda pictures:

Stalin the great leader – in this he could be seen in his study reflecting on the problems faced by the country.

Stalin the wise leader – In these ones he would be portrayed discussing military, agricultural or industrial problems with “experts”. The experts would have charts, blueprints or similar in their hands, and Stalin would be seen not only understanding, but proposing a brilliant solution to their problems.

Stalin the loving father – in these pictures Stalin would be seen in the company of children, all of whom look on him in a loving avuncular way.

Stalin the warlord – in these Stalin was portrayed with a battle or soldiers behind him, in command of the action.

Stalin the successor of Lenin – in these ones he would be portrayed close to Lenin, chatting or smiling with each other, or performing the same tasks.

Stalin the God – in these portrayals Stalin was lit from above, his pose almost Christ-like, the people around him filled with awe.
