How do you think the Soviet Union, if it still existed, would impact the world today? How would it be different?

It would probably be bad.
The most ideal circumstances that create the highest standard of living are a mixed economy, a mix of capitalism and socialism.
too much of either one can be a bad thing.

The Soviet Union would still be competing for control over the Middle East, so the Iraq War would not have probably happened due to America's continuing support of the Hussein Regime. The Soviet Union would still control large amounts of fossil fuels and important resources important to industry. Brain Drain would decrease due to the Democratic Movements aiming to reform the government towards the end of it's life. China would be less influential in the East, particularly Pakistan, India, and Sudan. The arms race could have continued, leading to continued focus on increasing the power of the federal government. The Clinton Administration probably wouldn't have been elected.

Except that The Soviet Union pulled out of Afghanistan before the Afghani civil war was over…
