As a beachside destination, Sochi is more expensive than Turkey or Egypt and worse service, but the nature around is stunning. Normally lower middle class or budget employees go there, so do not expect any good English.
With the winter Olympics it is expected that Sochi will become even more expensive, hence, less affordable for many ones who go there now.

In Sochi ( visit Adler too!!!) you will meet many Armenians.They are very hospitable!

I would not go there the first because of high prices and very humid climate in summer. Only if in Adler district of Sochi,there at evening wind blows from Mountains,so not so humid.

but make sure to use reliable travel agency (not Russian) including air carrier
"Kontinent" Russian airline declared bankruptcy and stranded hundreds of passengers throughout the Russia including Sochi
And have travel insurance.
