Looking like Russian?

Question by Purple Pear: What is someone who is Russian characterized as looking like?
My dad’s side of the family is eastern-european (mostly from poland or russia) his parents both emigrated here from russia. My grandmother often tells me that she can see the ‘russian’ in me, in how I look – that I look just like she used to. What physical features are associated with being Russian?

Both my parents have Russian ancestry but look totally different… my mom and her family are all very fair with either green or blue eyes and blond hair, but my dad and his family, seem to have darker eyes (hazel or gray) and brown hair. I got my mother's fair skin and green eyes and i got my dark hair from my dads side.

So to tell you the truth Russian physical features vary somewhat.

    hope i helped!

by the way my name is natasha, common russian name ha!

Russians actually vary a lot. most have brown or blond hair. the texture is usually straight or wavy. there is occasionally a person with natural black or realllllly curly hair. most are tall and have an hourglass shape. (this is not everyone) high cheek bones are a very defining feature. eyes, lips, and noses vary like in other cultures. the most common eye colors are brown, hazel, and blues probably. i'm sure your grandmother is proud to have a granddaughter that looks like her 🙂

One feature I've seen in Russians is their face shape. They're faces aren't really round, more squared and really light colored eyes. Another thing I noticed is the height. I've never seen a person from Russia, that I can think of, who was really short. My best friend is Russian and her whole family is really tall, her brother is already like 6'0'' tall and he's only 13.
