Question by Don: Where did the modern name for Russia come from and what were some earlier names?
I think “Russia” came from a Viking term but I could be wrong.
I’d also like to know and earlier and ancient names for Russia.

The ancient people living there were called the Rus’ and are viewed by Russians, Belarusians and Ukrainians as the predecessors of their people.
The inhabitants called it ” Ruskaya zemlaya” translated to ” Land of the Rus.”
